Ways to Secure Your Window Until Repair
Sailer Window Repair.
To schedule an appointment, call our window service line at 727.447.4250 or Contact Us directly. Often, we can schedule service right away!
Close the window or open
Cover the window opening with plastic sheeting, cardboard, or plywood. These are the best options for temporary protection against the elements.
Take out broken glass
Clean up any broken glass from the windows. You and your family members can be protected from broken glass. For large pieces of glass, use heavy duty gloves and for small pieces a broom/shop vac. If any glass fragments remain in a window frame, remove them with gloves. These shards can be pulled with a pair of pliers.
Find out the reason for the window being broken
Call the police immediately if you suspect that your window was broken due to a break in. You will need to document the extent of the damage in order to file an insurance claim. You may also file an insurance claim to pay for the replacement cost of the window if it is damaged by nature or an accident. Before you attempt to repair the damage, call your homeowner's insurance carrier to determine if they will need to inspect it or if a photograph of the damage can be sufficient evidence to file a claim.

Frequently asked questions
Can you fix foggy double-pane windows?
Yes. Fog or moisture between the panes means the seal on the insulated glass has failed, so it can't be wiped away from either side. Often we can replace just the sealed glass unit and keep your existing frame.
What kinds of glass do you repair?
We repair and replace single pane, double (thermal) pane and hurricane impact glass. That covers single-hung, double-hung, casement, awning and jalousie windows as well as sliding glass doors.
What should I do right after a window breaks?
Clean up loose glass carefully with heavy-duty gloves, and cover the opening with plastic sheeting, cardboard or plywood to keep the weather out. If you suspect a break-in, call the police first. If you plan to file an insurance claim, call your insurer before the repair to ask whether they need to inspect it or whether photos are enough.
How long does a glass repair take?
It depends on the glass. Some repairs can be handled in one visit, while other glass, such as insulated or impact units, has to be ordered to size first. Call us or send photos through the quote form on this page and we'll tell you what to expect for your window.
How do I get a quote for glass repair?
Call (727) 447-4250, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, or fill out the quote form on this page. You can add photos straight from your phone, and a picture of the damaged glass plus one of the whole window helps us quote faster.
